PATRON PROGRAM INTERN
DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is an internationally recognized
presenter of contemporary performing arts and cinema. The Development
department raises more than $24 million each year for its operating
and endowment needs, and encompasses the following units: membership,
patron program, fiscal, grants, patron services, sponsorship, and
special events.

As part of BAM Development, BAM’s Patron Program department focuses on
all aspects of fundraising from private donors who are giving at the
Producers Council membership ($1,500) and above. The Patron Program
Intern will have a hands-on opportunity to acquire skills to further a
career in fundraising. A crucial member of the fundraising team, the
individual in this position will provide the administrative support
necessary to achieve significant fiscal objectives for a world-
renowned arts institution.

The details:
• Participate in BAM’s internship and mentorship program
• Provide assistance on direct mail, on-site, web-based, phone and
Major Gift campaigns, including research, renewal, acquisition,
acknowledgement, and benefit fulfillment
• Assist in managing BAM’s young donor programs, including outreach
through social media
• Prepare and execute personalized, large-scale correspondence with
donor base
• Participate and administer membership-level cultivation events and
stewarding opportunities
• Act as customer service representative for donor inquiries and
issues
• Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the fundraising database
• Perform research to maximize the efficacy of fundraising efforts
• Provide general office administrative support

Requirements:
• Candidate must have career interest in arts administration or
fundraising
• Candidates with fundraising experience preferred
• Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Tessitura preferred
• Must have excellent writing, communication, organizational, and
interpersonal skills
• Must have the ability to competently manage multiple deadline-
oriented projects simultaneously; and be equally comfortable in
independent and group working environments
• Must be able to work a flexible scheduling including some weekend
and evening hours
• Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Non-Profit/Arts Management
or Administration
• Internship is 30 hours per week
• Interested in working in the Arts

Remuneration:
Internships run 12 to 40 hours per week and pay $8.75 per hour for
undergrads and $9.75 per hour for grad students. *May also be
available for college credit.
