Internship Date Range: April 5 – June 15, 2010 (dates flexible)
Who We Are: Banana Peel Dance (BPD) is a dance theater ensemble fusing street dance, modern dance, improvisation, live music and theater. In its first year of existence, BPD has created 7 works, performed extensively throughout NYC and been selected for a two-week residency in Cork, Ireland in July 2010.
In March 2009, BPD made its NYC debut at Henry Street Settlement with its evening-length work, Something Stolen…Well, Borrowed, a dance comedy about wedding mishaps. Since then, the company has created new works for DanceNOW Festival at Dance Theater Workshop, White Wave’s Dumbo Dance Festival, and HATCH at Jennifer Muller/The Works Studio. BPD has also presented evening-length performances for Rutgers University, NJ and the Gershwin Hotel, NYC.
BPD strives to blur the boundaries of post-modern dance, build collaborative partnerships between artists across art forms (both in NYC and abroad), and keep arts in education thriving. For more about Banana Peel Dance, visit www.kimalmquist.com/banana-peel-dance
