Since 1995, chashama has championed the movement to re-purpose vacant properties in New York City; recycling them into temporary artist studios and gallery spaces, while simultaneously invigorating the surrounding community landscape with an influx of culture, creativity and business.
The intern in Arts Programming will assist the Program Director with the management of the visual artists-in-residence at chashama; will help to coordinate special events, open studio events, and special exhibitions; will assist with the programming in our exhibition spaces; will assist with the windows program, chashama’s hallmark storefront window performance art program; will assist in the promotion of the visual & Performance arts program in the arts community; and will help with general office duties.
The intern in PR & Marketing will collaborate with the programming team on deadline-oriented projects. Produce media releases and other promotional materials. Update and manage press contacts. Cull and coordinate the information necessary to implement various departmental initiatives (e-blasts, social media, programs, etc). Research alternative outreach opportunities and assist with general office duties.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, organized and takes ownership and responsibility for his or her projects. Candidates must be bright, dependable, hardworking, self-motivated, detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, and be willing to take initiative.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe design software.
- Internet/web savvy (experience with Social Media is a plus)?
- Interest in the performing and visual arts.
- Hours and days are flexible. 2 or 3 days per week preferred
