Diversity in Museums Survey

by Kimberli Gant on August 24, 2010

The New York State Council on the Arts, Museum Association of New York and the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts are collaborating on this survey to develop data on the demographics of museum professionals in New York State. The results of this survey will be shared with the field and will help organizations make the case to funders, staff and board on proactive initiatives to develop a diverse workforce for the museum field. None of the collected information will be used as part of present or future NYSCA funding reviews. Although your participation is optional, it is critical to begin to “map” the demographics of the field, to support the development of projects which seek to foster diversity among museum professionals.

You will have the option to identify if your information is to be kept anonymous or to allow our report to potentially present your organization as a case study.

It is important that each museum in New York State fill out this survey. With the data on hand, this should take about 20 minutes of your time, depending on the size of your institution. You cannot save the information and return to the survey, so bear this in mind as you fill it out. Please complete the survey by *September 15, 2010*.

Please answer as accurately as you can. This survey is designed to reach all museums, regardless of size.
