Part-Time Development Assistant

TADA! Youth Theater seeks a Part-Time Development Assistant. This position will assist the Director of Development in various aspects of the annual fundraising campaign, with a specific focus on Individual Giving. This is great opportunity for someone interested in non-profit Development work, providing hands-on experience in all aspects of the field.

Responsibilities Include

  • Cultivating Individual Donors—includes executing 2-3 Direct Mail Appeals each year; ongoing Major Donor research; Individual donation tracking and processing acknowledgment letters.
  • Database Work—includes inputting all contributed income details into fundraising database (custom made, based on a Microsoft Access platform); Pulling Funder Lists for Appeals and House Programs; and general Database maintenance.
  • Special Events—includes helping to organize one major gala event, as well as multiple cultivation events throughout the season.
  • Participating in the identification, research, cultivation and solicitation of various Institutional funding sources. Includes gathering supporting materials for grant applications and final reports, and maintaining records.
  • Assist as needed with daily operations and general administrative tasks.

Ideal Candidate

  • BA degree, preferably in a related field pertinent to the mission of the organization.
  • 1-3 years experience in development and/or related administrative experience is preferred (substantial knowledge and interest in Development is a MUST).
  • Interest, experience and aptitude in dealing with Board members and other high-profile donors in a polished, professional manner.
  • Willingness to be flexible regarding duties as this is a small organization, and it is required of all staff to participate in other aspects of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access specifically)
  • Reliable, organized, detail-oriented & able to multi-task; Self-motivated; and excellent writing and communication skills.

For 25 years, the Drama Desk and Coming Up Taller Award-winning TADA! has been providing young people of all different backgrounds, including a large number of disadvantaged children and families, the opportunity to explore and perform musical theater together in an educational, supportive, and professional environment. Every year, TADA! produces 3 original musical theater productions with a discounted ticket program; free pre-professional training and youth development opportunities through the Resident Youth Ensemble composed of over 65 NYC kids ages 8-18; renowned Arts Education in-school residencies and after-school programs that are subsidized by our funders; and theater classes for kids of all ages taught by professional teaching artists and for which need-based scholarships are readily available.

TADA!’s mission is two-fold: to provide high-quality musical theater productions performed by talented kids for family audiences and to provide a safe, creative and nurturing place where kids can harness their inherent energy, build their self-assurance and realize their true potential through the unique collaborative art form that is musical theater. Compensation

$15–$18 per hour (dependent on experience) for 18-20 hours per week. (Work hours are flexible but must fall within regular business hours, M-F 10am–6pm).
