Think of a good CC topic.
Begin by planning backwards. What do you want to get out of this Creative Conversation and why? What is the goal of the conversation?
Some things we think make for rich conversations:
- Topics that appeal individuals from a broad spectrum of arts disciplines and job functions
- Topics that stimulate creative thinking and innovation
- Topics that help build skills, knowledge, or connections for young arts professional
- Topics that others haven’t been beaten dead by others
Who do you want to come to your CC? People who already know about your topic or those who need to be introduced to the issues? Students considering careers in the arts? Seasoned leaders? Bosses and/or direct reports? Is there a place for funders or policy makers in yor conversation?
A spattering of general topic ideas: work-life balance, advocacy, audience development, new fundraising strategies, lessons the arts can borrow from other fields, sustainability, innovations, skills workshops, new technologies, cultural policy, strategic planning, inter-generational work places, arts in communities, return on investment, freelance arts management, finding a mentor, managing others, being both an artist and an arts manager…and so many more…
